Friendly Chapel Sermon Notes 6/5/16 Brother Paul Holderfield, Jr. (posted by Amanda Pride)

                                                     You could've fooled me

1 Corinthians 4:8-10 Already you have all you want! Already you have become rich! Without us you have become kings! And would that you did reign, so that we might share the rule with you! For I think that God has exhibited us apostles as last of all, like men sentenced to death, because we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels, and to men. 10 We are fools for Christ's sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are held in honor, but we in disrepute.

A man at McDonald's was telling another man how much Jesus loved him.  The man replied, "You could've fooled me."

Be a fool for Christ's stake but don't be fooled by being wise in our own eyes.  Who is Jesus to you.  That's the only thing that matters.  No matter how inconvenient it is, we will have to die one day.  Jesus is the only Way.  Is He your personal Savior?  We can be sincerely wrong.  You can't be sincere and be sincerely wrong.  You can't be wrong about who Jesus is.

The Supreme court is not the Supreme Being, God is.
Romans 1:24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

It goes on to read in the same chapter about the same is true for adultery, fornication, envy, gossipers Romans 1:29 They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips,30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless.

67% of people in the U.S. believe there is a heaven.  47% believe there are many ways to get there.  We all have a mission and a mission field.  The ungodly lives that some believers are living turns some people away from the gospel.  We have to honor and forgive.  Bro. Paul recites poem:

Your name may not appear down here
In this world’s Hall of Fame.
In fact, you may be so unknown
That no one knows your name;
The headlines here may pass you by,
The neon lights of blue,
But if you love and serve the Lord
Then I have news for you.
This Hall of Fame is only good
As long as time shall be;
But keep in mind, God’s Hall of Fame
Is for eternity
This crowd on earth they soon forget
The heroes of the past.
They cheer like mad until you fail
and that’s how long you last.
But in God’s Hall of Fame
By just believing on His Son
Inscribed you’ll find your name.

I tell you, friend, I wouldn’t trade
My name, however small,
That’s written there beyond the stars
In that Celestial Hall,
For any famous name on earth,
Or glory that it shares;
I’d rather be an unknown here
And have my name up there(God’s Hall of Fame by Walt Huntley)

Whose fool are you?  Are you a fool for Christ?
Romans 1
Psalm 37:25 I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.
What we thought was our glory days now when we were young we realize now without Christ they were just good memories.  Now that we know Christ, everyday we have breath are our best days. Our young people are watching us and we need to do what we are supposed to do.  We have an obligation to our children, we are Called.  We have a mission field and we need to live what we preach, the way Jesus said to do it.
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world,[i] that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
Give Him everything; family, job, etc.  No matter what happens, He is still God!  We don't have to know everything but we know Who He is!

Sermon Notes: Friendly Chapel Church of the Nazarene Brother Paul Holderfield Jr. 5/22/16 (posted by Amanda Pride)

Seeking & Setting

Colossians 3:1-4   If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your[a] life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

Is our life giving the Lord Glory?  He is the Bread of Life. John 6:35
Is heaven your destination?  Have you made reservations?

Some people recognize Brother Paul from when he used to sell bread on his bread truck.  They ask him, didn't you use to sell bread?  He said yes but now I sell the Bread of Life.  One man responded, yes and it never goes stale.

Aim at heaven and you will get earth thrown in, Aim at earth and you will get neither.  Set your affections on heavenly things above.

Whoever loses his life for Jesus shall find it.  Matthew 10:39.  Seeking and setting our minds on heaven will effect how we live on this earth.  We don't grieve as those who have no hope.  We know our loved ones who died in Christ are in heaven and we will see them again.  The more we realize the purpose why we are here the more we will live right.

People don't set out as kids to become adulterers, thieves, pedophiles but they touch the unclean thing.  The Lord says come out from among the world and the things of the world.  We can know the Word and it not have an effect in our lives if we don't let it.  We have to have a biblical understanding of heaven and it will effect everything we do.  It will directly impact how we live our lives.

We should not be entrapped with this world and things.  Trying to get things to impress people who don't like us anyway.  We need a critical heavenly mindset. Everyone won't be going there. "IF" then you have been raised with Christ. Some people think they are good people and that is the reason they will go to heaven.
Who is Jesus?  Either He was a nutcase or He is who He said He was:  The Son of God.  Jesus said, "I am the Way and the Truth and the Life.  No man comes to the Father except through Me"  John 14:6

Position
Promise
Practice

Eye has not seen, ear has not heard the things He has prepared for those who love Him.
He wants us to know and do.  If we really believe there is a heaven, it will effect us.  We should always return evil with good.  What are our affections set on?

Grace & Gratitude

 1 Corinthians 15:9-10

For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.

Colossians 3:15-20

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do,whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.  Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.  Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.  Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.

"No one has ever become poor by giving."__ Anne Frank
"Dead people receive more flowers from the living ones because regret is stronger than gratitude."___Anne Frank
Grace without the "G", all we have is race.  Without God there is no race.

All of us are standing on the foundation of someone else. Paul shared words from his mom as she ended her prayer for the church this morning.  "Tell all my children, I love them".  The Love of a mama.  We have to humble ourselves, stop talking about people and be so busy being the "nobody telling everyone about Somebody Who can save their souls".  Jesus!
If we're not willing to give up everything would you be willing to be made willing?

Edward Kimball, no one has ever heard of him but his witnessing to Dwight L. Moody led to his conversion in Christ. This started a chain of events that led to   a young Billy Graham hearing a sermon by Mordecai Ham.
We have to get the Word in us and let it dwell in us.  Put our belief and trust in Jesus.  Let our belief  in Jesus stir up the Gift in us.

The Peace of God has to rule in our hearts.  Encourage each other with songs and thankful hearts.  God has Graced us with families.  Count your blessings one by one. :)  Gratitude.  Phil 4:7 And the peace of God,which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

God gives us a family to care for but they belong to Him.

Romans 12:2
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.

God's Grace does it's work in our hearts.  If we are spending our lives trying to fit in we are saying Jesus is not enough.

By the Grace of God I am what I am.  It doesn't matter what color we are or what we have done.
Paul said he didn't even deserve to be called an apostle because of his martyring of Christians.  Let His Grace work in us and bless us then it will flow outward from us to others and bless them.

Do you know Him?  Don't leave this world without knowing Jesus.

We that know Him, are we impacting others with the Gospel, the Goodness of Jesus?  God's Riches at Christ's Expense.

Sermon Notes: Bro. Paul Holderfield, Jr. Friendly Chapel Church of the Nazarene, North Little Rock, Arkansas (May 8, 2016 Mother's Day) posted by Amanda Pride

He Never lets go

Corinthians 10:13  No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted  beyond what you can bear.   But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

Romans 3:3 What if some were unfaithful? Will their unfaithfulness nullify God’s faithfulness?

Proverbs 31:10-12 A wife of noble character who can find?  She is worth far more than rubies.  Her husband lacks nothing of value.  She brings him good, not harm,  all the days of her life.

The mind will let go but the heart never does.  People will let us down, we will let ourselves down but when we follow the Spirit, He will make a way of escape.  He will rescue us.

If life deals us a bad hand, it doesn't make the faithfulness of God of no effect.  God gives us the gift of Faithfulness.  He loves us no matter what.

Spirit filled women, wives, mothers lead their husbands the right way.  They don't hinder but help.  They will not lack anything of value.

Quit chasing stuff and realize what God has given us.  His Son, the Greatest Gift.  He put Him in the womb of Mary.  He gave our Savior a mother and us a mother's love.

Sermon Notes:  Friendly Chapel North Little Rock, Arkansas- Bro. Paul Holderfield, Jr.

God uses crooked sticks to draw a straight line.

Matthew 22:36-37 Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?”  And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.  This is the great and first commandment.
Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Jesus said to him, “Truly, I tell you, this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” 35 Peter said to him, “Even if I must die with you, I will not deny you!” And all the disciples said the same

No one is perfect but Jesus.  When His Spirit is leading us, God can use us to draw people to Him.
We have to let the Lord teach us, humble us. mold us to be more like Him.

We need to care more for the person next to us instead of trying to get something for ourselves.  We can be the one to share the love of Jesus where God has planted us.  There are no excuses.

Don't spread bad things about someone because they have hurt us.  Don't return evil for evil but return good.

We have to be "All In"! Not partially but all in.   People will die for what they believe; they won't die for a lie.

When we fall, weep bitterly and get back up. Matthew 26:75 And Peter remembered the saying of Jesus, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” And he went out and wept bitterly.

Do right.  Show people you care.  It doesn't cost anything to be kind.  It is a ministry to be kind to people, kindness is not seen much these days.

We are Blessed because we have not seen & yet believe.

Love your children enough to show and teach them the bible.  Love them enough to tell them right from wrong.  They won't be perfect but will be a crooked stick God uses.

Our families belong to God.  We need to be "all in" with our time and everything we have left.  Give Him everything.

Heavenly Father right now today I asked You to supply everything You know we need and I thank you Lord you've taken all punishment and judgment that was due to us and placed it upon your Son Jesus, our  Savior to pay for our sins, You are the Righteous Judge, and You are Just in all Your Ways,  By Your Grace I forgive and let go of all bad feelings toward others that have mistreated and disappointed me and I pray Father that those I have mistreated and disappointed forgive and let go of all bad feelings toward me.

Lord Jesus don't let evil come before us this day that we will have to choose,  but set before us life and good this day and Father God rescue us from harm and danger and wickedness For you Lord created the foundation and own all the force, all the strength, the might, dominion and power,  it all belongs to you forever in Jesus mighty name Amen

Jesus never leaves me alone

Hearing but not knowing
Listening but not understanding
like the whispering waves on a warm summer night hurled against the ocean rocks rejected and alone
Now I hear, I listen and understand
You made the whisper
You made the waves
You made the ocean and the rocks
You put the warm in summer and made the day from night,
You made me and I am Not Alone
You love me, I know You love me

Matthew 13:16But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.

Almond Tree Blossoms

As the almond tree blossom opens her eyes in the early Spring, my soul awakens each morning to the Sweet, Eternal Presence of My Heavenly Father and His endless Love for me, waiting and watching, to see my face; Arms full of Grace, His heart touches mine and I smile. O' sleep, enough for now; I must go to Him. _Amanda Pride

Jeremiah 1: 11 Moreover, the word of the Lord came to me, saying, Jeremiah, what do you see? And I said, I see a branch or shoot of an almond tree [the emblem of alertness and activity, blossoming in late winter].
12 Then said the Lord to me, You have seen well, for I am alert and active, watching over My word to perform it.

The Lord delights in our prayers to Him, spend time with Him and watch Him work His Perfect will in our lives.  Proverbs 15:8
